IowaFathers was originally founded in November of 2003 by Bryan Iehl as an online support group for non-custodial parents.
In February of 2006, IowaFathers started a weekly support group meeting in Cedar Falls. The support meeting offered on-going support and parental education regarding child custody, child support, child visitation, dissolution of marriage, and other community resources including access to legal consultation.
Due to the immediate success of the Cedar Falls support group meeting and the need for the same support elsewhere throughout the state, IowaFathers started offering support meetings in Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Des Moines, Iowa City, and Sioux City.
IowaFathers has recently filed articles of incorporation with the State of Iowa and is in the process of obtaining IRS approval for 501(c)3 status.
