John Tudor

My name is John Tudor and I have been a member of Iowa Fathers since the summer of 2008.  I am married to my beautiful wife Jenn and together we have two children.  I also have three boys; two from a prior marriage and one from a previous relationship.

My experience as a non-custodial parent started in 1999.  On numerous occassions since then I had wanted to "fight back" against a system that often seemed stacked against me.  If you're feeling that way now or have in the past, then you're in the right place.

I had to choose to grow through the challenges of my life.  A major turning point was participating in a christian program offered at my church called Celebrate Recovery.  The primary focus was to work through the hurts, habits, and/or hang-ups I had experienced.  The prayers and support of mentors and a new found relationship with God, not only put me on a path to recovery from emotional hurts of the past, it prepared me to see life from a new perspective.  It prepared me to "fight for what is right."

Several years later in the summer of 2008, my wife's mom introduced to the group Iowa Fathers.  After meeting on and off that summer with guys like; Bryan Iehl, Matt Weichers, Rob Hampton (to name a few) I began to realize many non-custodial parents had similar experiences in the courtroom or working out differences of opinions raising their children or being left out of the decision making process altogether by the custodial parent. I didn't have thousands of dollars to hire an attorney... but I was motivated to fight for what was right. And that's what I am doing to make a difference for tomorrow in my life and hopefully for others as well.

My hope is to educate and inspire others by what IowaFathers represents.  Encouraging others to share their story and realize that together we're not just making a difference for today, or only with our children... but changing how society, the judicial system, and legislators honor the rights of all parents with equality in the courtroom and everyday life.

I currently serve on the Child Support Advisory Committee (CSAC) representing IowaFathers and all non-custodial parents.
